iPad magazines – advertising is getting interactive

Since my post ‘Digital magazines: where are all the interactive adverts?‘, I’ve been keeping an eye on the state of interactive advertising and I’m pleased to report it’s definitely getting better.

The latest digital issue of Wired has this nice little example from Microsoft (believe it or not)

The clever idea is that you can rotate the iPad into landscape mode to see the code behind the ad and ‘tinker with it’…

Of course, you can’t really hack the code of the ad, but there’s a few variables you can change to create your own remix…

It’s a great idea, well executed and bound to appeal to both readers of the magazine and the ad’s target audience… I’m looking forward to see how this new generation of interactive advertising develops…
